The balloon method actually worked — I popped it after two days and the shell held its shape perfectly. The water-soluble glue washed off my hands and the brush in seconds, which I didn't expect. The little electric votive gives a soft glow through the tissue paper without any fire worry.

The dried flowers pressed into the tissue paper look way nicer than I expected once the glue dries clear. Only gripe is the PVA takes a good day to fully set, so plan for a slow project. The little electric tea light is a nice touch since I don't have to worry about a real flame.
